Motivation Vs Consistency
We’ve all struggled with motivation at one point or another in our lives. We can start off a new fitness program full of motivation only to find by week 4 or 5 our enthusiasm and motivation start to dwindle off and you may find old thinking process’s and actions start again.
We wonder how people who get up early to exercise or rush off from work to get their session in, are so motivated to do so….…The truth is that often they are not. They don’t feel motivated after a hard day at work, in fact, it’s impossible to be motivated 100% of the time. What these people have perfected is CONSISTENCY.
How can you start to be consistent?
-Get your work out gear ready the night before
-Print out the class timetable and highlight with classes you plan on going to…AND GO.
-Bring a friend. Not only is it fun, but often you can keep each other committed.
-Don’t be worried, no-one is looking at you. Everyone is watching the instructor thinking the exact same thing as you……Is It really one more?
When you do all these things consistently it creates a habit. Motivation won’t come into it so much then. Setting goals and targets are still important though as it keeps us on track. When the days hard and we don’t have the motivation try to remember to be consistent to your plans. Consistency with energy is a powerful tool for completing any task, especially your goals, so remember this and use it whenever you get the chance.
Squeezing in a workout at least 4 times a week! The secret? Treat the workout like it’s a doctor’s appointment or better still a hair appointment maybe a hot date…. And don’t stand yourself up because you know you will look and feel great afterwards.
